Chairman

Dr Richard Barnett, MBBS (Sydney) FRACS FACS

Dr Barnett has over 20 years experience as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon. He has a particular interest in cosmetic surgery of the face. Dr Barnett graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Sydney in 1966. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1973. In 1977, he was accepted as a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. Since then, he has held many executive positions in Plastic Surgery at both state and national levels including Councillor (1996-2001), Vice-President (1996-1997) and President (1997-2000) of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr Barnett’s other professional appointments include Senior Examiner of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Chairman of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Member of the Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Councillor of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

He is currently  the Chairman of the Australasian Foundation for Plastic Surgery, VMO at North Shore Private Hospital and Castlecrag Private Hospital, HMO Emeritus in the Department of Plastic and Facio-Maxillary Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital, Chairman of the Patient Care Review Committee and Member of the Medical Advisory Committee at North Shore Private Hospital.

Associate Professor Rodney Cooter, MBBS MD (Adel) FRACS

Associate Professor Rodney Cooter works as a private Specialist Plastic Surgeon in Adelaide where he performs a range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures. He has a specialty interest in breast surgery.

Completing medical school in 1983, he undertook research in the Australian Craniofacial Unit and was awarded his Doctorate in Medicine in 1991. After completing further training here and abroad, he gained a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in plastic and reconstructive surgery in 1993. Associate Professor Cooter has worked as a senior lecturer in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Adelaide, and as Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. From 1997 to 2002 he was the Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and an Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide.

He has maintained an interest in education and research with over 50 publications including two books and book chapters.Over the past six years Associate Professor Cooter has been closely involved with both the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (Councillor, 2005-2008) and the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (Councillor, 2005-2011; President, 2011-present). Since 2007 Associate Professor Cooter was Chairman of the Development Committee for the Australasian Plastic Surgical Education and Research Foundation, the precursor to the Australasian Foundation for Plastic Surgery Limited which was legally constituted in 2011.

Dr Howard Klein, MD FRACS FRCSC FACS

Dr Howard Klein is a Specialist Plastic Surgeon in New Zealand. His practices are based in Christchurch and Dunedin, and he also holds regular public clinics in Invercargill. He is a consultant surgeon at St. Georges Hospital, Southern Cross Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Dunedin. He is also is an active member of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Christchurch Hospital.

Dr Klein graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in the United States and received training in general surgery at McGill University in Canada. He completed Plastic Surgery training at Duke University.

Dr Klein is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has written numerous chapters for major Plastic Surgery textbooks and has authored over twenty-five scientific publications.

Dr Klein is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the Medical Council of New Zealand. He is the Immediate Past President of the New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons (NZAPS). He is also a member of the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgery, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
